“Water is the driving force of all nature.” – Leonardo da Vinci
From the gentle falling of snow to the pounding torrent of rain showers, the flow of water helps to define environments. Creating vast lakes, tricking streams, and raging rivers, the presence or lack of water will shape and mold an ecosystem, selecting which species of plant will prosper and which species of animal will survive. Just as two-thirds of the Earth is covered with water, two-thirds of our bodies are comprised of it. As our hearts serve to regulate its flow through our bodies, the tides serve as the heartbeat of the planet, constantly keeping this most vital of resources in motion, creating life through its very being. How much more effective could we be by realizing how much of our identity is defined by water and connecting with that part of our nature?
