March For Our Lives

March For Our Lives

I had the honor of playing my version of Pink’s song “What About Us?” at the March For Our Lives in Sarasota on Saturday. You should be able to click on the link if you’d like to see it.

While I was waiting to play, I was taking in the thousands of people who showed up and listening to what the students had to say. I was able to catch some of it on video and put together a little highlight reel about what was on their hearts.

Before playing my song, I did point out that in the last thirty years, gun ownership in America has dropped from 54% to 32%, and that violent assaults have decreased roughly 60%. Although both mainstream and social media highlight all of our violence, and although America is still one of the most violent industrialized nations on the planet, overall, we are getting better. While we still have a ways to go, and fear is a very dangerous commodity in America, the American people are striving to become less violent and overcome the fears that we are regularly sold.

Thank you once again to all of the students around the country that have exhibited such courage in speaking out for common sense gun laws, and to all who have been supporting them.
